Pressure Loads for UAV

  • Model is a simplified Underwater Autonomous Vehicle.
  • Pressure loads uniform over all external surfaces to simulate different depths under water.
  • Used brick elements for solid geometry.
  • Design scenarios were used for different depths.

Rigid Boundary Elements

Image RBE spiders to simulate bolts. Top and bottom spiders are rigid elements with "no" mass. Interconnnecting element between the spiders is a beam element to collect reaction forces in 6 DOF

  • For beam elements there is an associated geometry to select. In this example a round profile was chosen with a .125 in diameter.
  • Shown below are the resultant forces on the beam elements representing the bolts. The x, y, z reaction forces sum to applied loads.
